I always had both calurpa and Halimeda growing in my previous tank, and they "went off" frequently. I never saw any adverse affects on the tank as a result. It was a very small tank also (35gal), so the potential to influence the tank was much higher than your system.

It does look like those two triggers get along. I haven't seen my male blue throat ever behave nicely to the female.

Get some food into that male...he's thin.
