![]() I have to agree with the "worst nightmare" part. The stuff is insidious and it has an almost intelligence to it. For example, I'll find it growing in spots I can't see from the front of the tank. How does it know where to grow where I won't see it (and thus won't prune it)? Obviously it's just coincidence but it's happened often enough to me that I find it a bit weird that it's doing that.

![]() Exactly the same thing happend to me.
In my old 75 I had a few spots that I would prune and make all nice. But when I tore the tank down my rock work was glued together with the stuff. pounds of it. and you know you couldn't see it from the front. J |

![]() So here's my question: if it's in the back and you can't see it...then why bother? Doesn't it out-compete things like hair algae and bubble algae? Wouldn't that be a good thing? Or is it just the fact that, if it's in the back, behind everything, it will continue to spread to the front and be a nuisance?

![]() It can go sexual a release bad stuff into the water, I believe some people have had tank crashes do to this happening. The main problem I am having is it is really hard to pull off the rock the main stock is attached every couple inches or so.

![]() I always had both calurpa and Halimeda growing in my previous tank, and they "went off" frequently. I never saw any adverse affects on the tank as a result. It was a very small tank also (35gal), so the potential to influence the tank was much higher than your system.
