Mike, for that size tank I would have gone with at least 1" glass, and a huge centre brace.
I don't thing that gun you fire could break that tank So what's this one going to be, mixed reef, or just softies? |

I think you are better off with the two holes both being used as overflow. Run the return over the top. Do you know from experience if a single hole can take 100% of the flow you want?
If it can, you can silence the overflow using that 2nd hole.

Well I bought some paint. Going to paint all 3 sides glossy black to keep lots of light in and I like the look of Black too.
here is the first coat. ![]() the first coat is like the primer for the rest. here is the second coat starting to come together and fill in nicely. ![]() ![]() as you look at the overflow holes they are for 1" overflows. the overflow box was huge when I like owned it . Im going to make it smaller might just use normal standpipes.. any input.. mike

The guys at golds aquarium in calgary have a good silent overflow set up. If you call and speak with them they would probabally email u some pics. Having the return ran above the water level and then into the tank is the safest way to pipe it. On mine I ran the return over the overflow. Then I drilled a hole in the 90 on the return and tapped a small plastic threaded barb adapter in to it. I used some small diameter tubing to keep the water from the barb adapter in the overflow. I secured the tubing just above the water level as a siphon break. works like a charm. No more relying on check valves.

Coming along nice Mike. I used a flat black though.
If you did straight stacks, the overflow box would be smaller but for sure, more noise. You could build Stockman stacks. Take up very little room, in comparison to Duraso,s.
