how long were you away? maybe they didn't dose at all, then added everything at once just before you got home? maybe that caused the severe imbalance in calc/alk? Calcium dissolves quite easily if you dump it all in at once (from my own experience) but the alk part doesn't play as nicely. That's the only thing I could think of that would cause both an imballance, and problems with the coraline?

I left my tank with my sister to look after once for a week, and she never did any top off AT ALL the entire time. when I got home, my pumps would have been running dry within 4 hours! I'm not going for any extended trips till I get dosing pumps, myself.
