Actually the one marks talking about isn't too bad (if its the same one I'm thinking of). db's are a bit high to run for any long period of time (imagine your neighbour mowing his lawn for... 5-6 hours straight). But definitely good for those emergencies.
Basic idea of generators - you're not plugging it into your profilux or computers... You use it to run a couple pumps and a heater - not everything reef related.
