LOL - no I used to run 4x20w t8 ballasts on a single bulb on a couple planted tanks... Works gooderly.

No no no That is not getto.If you want to go cheap, I mean really cheap do what I did. I went to home depot and bought Phillips screw in PC's 6500k and my corals are doing fine. I even have a birds nest frag in the tank to see if SPS will grow under it. It has been three months and its not dead, it looks fine. I am running 6 of these bulbs on the tank 27watts each but its nice that you dont need a ballast for them because they are self ballast. So far so good

I tried that too, but they fell in the tank and killed everything, lol
