I am always fascinated with these creatures and hope to one day find one. Maybe in my travels to Vancouver.

Beautiful mantis! I love the colours. do you know what species it is?

as for keeping a mantis in its own tank... if you keep it well fed, it probably wont bother chasing down anything hard to catch. Also a larger tank volume will help with the survival of your clean up crew/others. Oh, and smashers don't usually bother going after fish especially if they're fast like a damsel.
