Anybody who tells you to cycle a tank with fish is, I'm sorry to put it so crudely, a little on the stupid side of things. Please do not follow this person's advice anymore.

Also, read as much as you can about SW tanks. The links provided are a good starting place. Read and reread them until you understand what is being said. I've been in the hobby for 6-7 years now, and I admit I have lots to learn. Keep asking questions here. We will try to steer you in the right direction
