I have seen it suggested that there was no desire to save the season at all. The scuttlebut is that the league is trying to get rid of some franchises. when some of these moneylosing franchises drop out a newly reorganised league will appear.
This is the last thing bettmen would want, if the leagues that he brought in have to fold it will just show that is doesnt know what he is doing, he just wants to break the union. Him and goodenow have such enlarged egos that know one wants to give.
