I've been running 2 different designs for over 7 years now and neither was/is noisy My socks are held by a piece of plex at the top of the water line in the highest point in my sump where the water comes from the DT. There is an inch drop from the socks to the water level in the next chamber. I'd like to see what designs are causing noise ... http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/x...psss5livck.jpg ![]() |

![]() They are noisy when the water level is low in the socks.
This would be noisy (water level will be about 4" below the top rim of the sock): ![]() Last edited by Myka; 03-08-2018 at 02:59 AM. |

![]() Ah now I get it. Seems a waste of sock surface area

The noise is caused by the reduced surface area of the spillover prior to hitting the sock rack. An internal sock baffle solves that by reducing the turbulence of the water by increasing spillover surface area.
