apex's are very flexible controllers which doesn't allow for "plug and play" out of the box and i'm sure many can relate to some of the difficulties when initially setting the system or its components up.
personally, the youtube videos from bulk reef supply about the apex solved a lot of general questions and registering and asking pointed questions over at https://forum.neptunesystems.com/ is a great utility for the head scratchers.

calibrate - and bob's your uncle..
what other components do you have ??? I have 2 dos'rs... mp40, mp 10, gyre 150, 2 radions... skimmer, return pumps,,, with complex wave patters,, feed scheds that turn pumps off/on.. shoot me any questions if you have any specific issues..
