I just purchased a Canon EF 100mm/f2.8 macro lens (non IS). This lens takes very sharp photos, the details are unbelievable and have a very shallow depth of field (very nice Boke) when used as a portrait lens.

I got it half the price of the IS version. There's also a 60mm version. I love this lens as it covers both worlds, Macro for Aquarium photography and a very nice portrait lens for my kids.
