I agree with everyone it needs painting. If you don't like the black, how about another dark colour - dark blue, purple etc.

Well, I picked up some paint on the way home, and some brushed nickel hardware. It should update it quite nicely . . . But I really dislike painting. I'll just keep myself focused on the end goal.

If possable, I vote use paint stripper and go med light-dark wood stain. FWIW
