To Paint Stand or Not?

I agree with everyone it needs painting. If you don't like the black, how about another dark colour - dark blue, purple etc.

Well, I picked up some paint on the way home, and some brushed nickel hardware. It should update it quite nicely . . . But I really dislike painting. I'll just keep myself focused on the end goal.

If possable, I vote use paint stripper and go med light-dark wood stain. FWIW
Krlyon works great for reef painting.

The doors are plastic. That's pretty common on these old tables. The top and sides are veneered particle board and plywood. I would love to go lighter, as most the wood in our house is quite dark.

My only options are paint, or to touch up the existing colour (which really doesn't look good with the aquarium).
