Salt water does do damage. If you live right by the ocean you will experience salt damage that makes things rust quicker than they would inland. It's the same principle here. Salt water is not friendly to things that don't live in it. You will need to be careful if that is an issue. Now that said I don't have any paint peeling or bubbling on the wall behind my tanks but the floor has seen some water on occasion. If you never have a leak or a water spill of any kind you are a minority. Salt or fresh water....accidents happens.
