Had 2ppm phosphate levels. Tried using rowaphos in a bag and after 3 or 4 days did not see much of a change. I installed a phosban reactor with rowaphos and was amazed that phosphate levels were reduced by more than half in 24 hours. Using salifert test kit it currently is less .003. I'am very pleased with the results.

I have 2 Phosban reactors in my sump. One for PhosBan/Rowaphos and the other one for nitrate sponge (Kent) and Chemipure.

I just purchased one but instead of the phosban reactor I purchased the oazone reactor (same thing but cheaper with a couple extra lines you can use for stuff or bypass like I did. it is also UV red so it looks cool. but I am running rowaphos in it and have had no rtn isues or anything.

Would it be a good/bad idea to mix what you put in there... say carbon/phosphate media/nitrate media? I myself couldn't see a problem with that....

I think the carbon would long be used up before any of the phosphate removing media. If you put them in nylon filter socks you could change out the carbon more often though.

Stircrazy, where did you get this cheaper reactor?

Is everyone feeding their reactors with a powerhead?

How often do you guys change out the carbon? Do you ever rinse it out and reuse it?
