Sitting on top. That's the only reason I am considering doing it myself.

I am also building the stand myself. So, what if I repair the tank, then place it into it's base on the stand, (something with a raised lip) and silicone it into place there as well. Wouldn't that remove any chance of a leak plus increase the overall strength?

Should we move this to the DIY forum now?
