Overflow placement - 1 vs 2 returns?

I would do option 2, just to avoid looking into the side of the overflow. Also has greater appeal for resale, I think. I almost did a corner overflow, but choose center. Shortly after the build, i decided on a different location for the tank and would have ended up with my viewing side having the overflow. Glad I went with center
