cause ya know how when you injure yourself and have a little flap of skin hanging there, so you rip it off? in the coral world, you can grow a whole new coral from that little bit, hence the term "skin flaps" which yes, is a bit creepy when you think of it, but you get a great deal on a smaller bit of coral, which in the end grows to be a big coral so everybody wins!
