dead rock is a good thing now.. if I were to do my tank all over when I got that rock initialy I would have left it on the drive way to dry out and kill everything off. that way you know what your getting then you can cure it for a few months to get your cycle started and add 1 chunk of rock from an extablished tank with no nasties on it. as for sand, Just say no to sand
