I talked to both InterAmerican and Aqua Enterprises.
It's the glass thickness, starphire, polishing, and especially the mitered joints that would make this tank so much $. I could have had Aqua Enterprises build it for about $900.00 without the polishing, mitering, and the starphire glass but I wanted a nice show quality tank with straight clean seams and satin smooth edges, which is what I have now
