Yikes! That would make me paranoid. Looks like there is two chips (a smaller one below.)

The worse thing about that chip is it's in the middle of the payne of glass. If it was near the bottom or top I wouldn't worry about it. Because it is in the middle, if it were my tank, I wouldn't fill it up before checking with a tank builder to see.

That looks bad. I would buy a new pane of glass and have it installed professionally. I would rather do this thatn pay money for a rug doctor and spend the whole week moping up water. Man o man. I wouldnt risk it. Not only are we thinking about you valubles at your house but we are thinking about the fish. They would probally slide rights down a heat vent then your house would stink like fish for ever. Trustme a little hole water drains fast letalone and entire back pannel.

The other option you might want to think about is to silicone another peice of glass over top of it. When mine cracked towards the top thats what I did and it's been holding a full tank for 4-5 months now... Just a though though!

How much do you think it would cost to get a new piece of glass and get it installed? I'm from Victoria so the only place I know to go is Seastar. Anyone know what that might cost?

I would imagine that it wouldn't cost more than $150 for seastar to do it. Give them a call and see what they say.
