Chipped tank

Well, the inevidable happened. While I was moving this weekend, I chipped the outside corner of my 135G. There's no crack or anything but there is a chip right on the cornerabout half a centimetre deep. Do you think this will affect setting up the tank. It doesn't look like it's weakened it but it is on the corner.

Can you get a picture of it? Or describe it a bit better? height? width?

it's about the size and shape of a loonie, starts about an inch from the corner of the tank and slowly gets deeper as it approaches the edge of the corner. the deepest point can't be any deeper than a quarter inch max. I'll try to get some pics when I get home tonight or for lunch.

That sounds kinda scary!! I guess this is on the long side, right?

It's on the back right corner of the long side.

Personally, I'd try and drive it over to Seastar and ask Wayne what he thinks. Or make sure your house insurance covers water damage.

it's so small though. I hope it's not that bad.

The size of a loonie isn't what I would call small. Have you ever had to mop up 135g of saltwater? I've done 70g from new carpet....I wouldn't eve wat to do that again. Then again, maybe it's only cosmetic. I would ask a professional though.

Yeah, I was thinking "loonie sized" and "half centimetre deep" sounds enough that I'd want a professional opinion, it it were my own tank. A tank builder could replace the affected pane, if it came down to that.

I suppose it depends a little bit on what height the chip is at. The pressure behind the glass at 1" from the top is not going to be the same as the pressure behind the glass at 1" from the bottom.

It almost resembles a razor blade shaving or something the way it's chipped. It looks like it slowly started to peel away about an inch away from the edge and got deeper until it hit the edge.
