What is this? ...wierd growth on macro
Any ideas what this is? I have seen it before and thought it was just the caulpera algae rotting a bit but i am thinking it may be some kind of egg sack? I saw what appeared to be tiny pods on the outside of it. It looks like a Q-Tip but fuzzier.
I have 2 clowns and a fire shrimp in the tank it has been set up for a few years now. I also have a lot of worms, amphipods and isopods (not bad so far as i can tell) Thanks, Ken |

I used to have those too when I kept that type of caulerpa. I never knew what it was and figured it had to do with caulerpa growth or something.

Thanks that makes sense. The reason i was questioning whether it was an egg sack is cause they always seemed to be around bits of chewed on caulpera.

It could be that the "chewed on" part has become damaged and no longer retains any of the green pigment and is now white? Thats what I always figured on mine, either that or it was gearing up to spawn or whatever caulerpa does.
