Default The future led competitor?

Looks a bit bulky compared to some products but maybe it has potential?

Meh. I don't see anything revolutionary. And I don't think their choices of LED spectra is quite right either.

I saw that too. I think it looks terrible and I imagine the color separation would be horrible. It will be interesting to see what they look like when people start posting their tanks.

hmm.. did you even read the article?

"The most obvious design departure of the AcroOptics is a near complete field of diodes which are each backed up by an interesting rectangular secondary lens the likes of which we have never encountered before, but which we have since learned creates “perfect” color blending at a distance of 9″ and greater."

I did notice that and my issue has nothing to do with the colour blending but with the spectra. I've messed around with lots of leds over the years. I'm leaning away from the red/orange/yellow emitters. They might contribute a bit to coral growth but I think they add nothing to colour. Coral flourescence and colour seems to be brought out by wavelengths green and smaller. Green, cyan, blue and violet.

One of the reasons so many people seem to like the Kessils is that they are heavy in the violet end of the spectrum and really make the corals glow.

Haha, yeah. I don't believe everything I read. Do you guys? If you do, then boy do I have a load of bull for you guys... Keep in mind, not everyone will see the color separation either. I do like the idea of a fixture (even though it's ugly) as maybe it will help with coloring up corals on the sides instead of just the tops like LEDs have a tendency to do.
