Default Find Me A Camera

i'm in the market for a new camera and to be totally honest i know very little. i'm hoping you guys can direct me towards what i need. i know i want a strong zoom to get good quality macro shots (not sure what to look for in specs on a camera for this) i would love to have an acro polyp take up the whole picture , a need it to be able to take fast shots in order to take pics of moving fish. i'm really hoping for the price to be less than $400 preferably drastically less. please help

dpreview.com might help you narrow your choices.
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/compare.asp This will help you narrow down whats in your price range, and what features your looking for.

What you may want to do is head down to your local store and try out a few. I originally wanted an olympus SLR, but when I actually got it in my hands, I found it was way too big. I settled for the Nikon D40x, pricy ($1000), but so worth it when it came down to quality, and its ability to do nice macros. I had a fujifilm FinePix which worked really well for me. It was purchased second hand, but it worked really well.

Nature of this hobby led me to this little cool thing, besides my digital rebel from canon.

I just got a Canon PowerShot S5 IS 8.0 megapixel camera. It cost me 4600 airmiles. I think they retail for between 4 and 5 hundred. It has a 12x optical zoom which is nice cause it will take good shots of the tank/fish without getting to close. It has a macro function for close ups and an aquarium function too (???). I need to finish reading threw the book to figure everything out but so far it's pretty neat.

if you don't want to spend the money on the S5 IS, the S3 IS is still available in some stores, and for most people, they'll never know the difference.

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/comp..._s5is&show=all

Futureshop shows it for $400 vs $550 for the S5 IS.

No, no picts underwater in my tank yet. Camera is still in the box I had the previous version 720sw that has been stolen/lost. Didn't have much time to play with a new replacement yet. I'll post some photos once I get to it.
