The fabled prop system
Ok, so I've been talking about it since... June(?) 06, and every time I turn around - something happens and well, the systems put on hold for a while.
Here's the overall plan: That's 3 50's (44x18x15) stacked. No the bottom 50g tank won't be the sump. Beside is my existing 65g (formerly known as the FOWLR system) over my existing acrylic sump. 65g becomes the new refugium - possibly in time home to seahorses, if I find any I like. 65g as it sits now, became a temporary home for everyone after my previous prop tank split a seam... (be nice - temporary emergency setup - no I wouldn't recommend this wiring/plumbing to anyone) Want to guess where these funky shaped tanks came from? LOL - thanks again nate! One of these (the one which will become the bottom of the pile) is going to get a baffle to ensure proper flow into the sump. Thanks to golds for the final piece of the puzzle! (Like my Green water prop tank? New system's definitely getting UV!) Now all that's left is to put it all together, plumb it in, and stock it up |

Well this is the Tank Journal forum So yes there will be progress pics.
Just spent 45 trying to level the stand... Oh my, that floors outta wack. Funny how the wood stands required only about a 1/4" shimming on 2 legs - this steel stand is has over 7/8" (total) between the 3 legs. Still need to chase down a used external pressure rated pump, as I don't think my mag12's going to quite make it up 7' with any reasonable flow... Lubbocks fairy wrasse with LASERS on their head... Is that so much to ask for? Mmmmm lasers... 1/2way done... Last edited by AndyL; 02-02-2007 at 12:29 AM. |

What I'm gonna prop - what catches my eye generally how I go... Hopefully we'll have better success with the SPS in this system. Undoubtedly I'll be continuing to add to my LPS collection.
Lighting - I've got a 2x175w DIY fixture over the 65 right now - it'll move over. Thinking I might try one level with just a 150w de (you'll notice it lying on the floor not being used anyway). The other tank - unknown, pondering going t5... 65g will get some 96w pc's. Just finished drilling the lower tank... Cutting shelves, spent HOURS at Rona/Home Despots, western pump, among others today - figuring out plumbing... |
