Default Clam

Ok I have a stupid question I have my very first clam. First I have place it in the sand under a multiple T5 lighting. And this morning I decided tomove it on top of a rock to get more light the I notice this white fleshy thing growing under the shell What could it be?

And I think all the bristle worms in my tank move under it or near it

So what is it?
it is how the clam anchors its self to the rock.

Don't rip it off, you can kill a clam this way.
