from what ive read you should turn off your skimmer while there are paint fumes around or the air will be sucked in the venturi.

Latex is one thing, and oil base quite another. If you are painting latex, you can extend the airline on your skimmer outside, try to cover the tank if you are in the immediate area.

Don't drop paint in your tank like I did about 2.5 years ago. What a mess

Thanks for the sugg.`s. I`m going to be painting adjacent rooms and hallway. The wall paint is latex but the ceiling paint is oil. I`ll cover the tank completely and shut off the skimmer and try and vent the rooms as best I can, with a fan if necesary.

I would paint when the weather was warm enough to have all the windows open and lots of fans going.

I would definately step up the carbon usage while painting just in case.

While we're on the subject and I don't mean to jack your post, but what can you safely paint the inside of a canopy with?

Marine grade paint, and lots of it.

I used 3 or 4 good coats of white Epoxy Paint. Once your done its like a nice layer of plastic inside your canopy.
