I personaly like a little taller so I don't have to be on my knees to see the bottom, but there is a downside.. you will need a step stool anytime you want to work on the tank.

 The higher the tank the more imposing and large it will seem. But there's no way I'm getting into my tank without a stool.

Mine is 36". Too tall IMO. 30"-32" would be about perfect

Right on, I was planning on 32", about 8" taller than the crappy stand I currently have. Glad to see I'm not the only one that likes it at a decent height. I keep seeing adds for large stands for sale that are 16 - 18" high!
