Default How to raise protein skimmer?

I need to raise my skimmer 6 inches so that it sits in the ideal water level range.

I was planning on putting a 4L ice cream bucket upside down in the sump and resting the skimmer on top of it. Im hoping it wont make too much noise from vibrations.

Any ideas?

The problem with a bucket is that you don't get water flow through there, so it'll get nasty fast. I made mine out of eggcrate, but it's only a couple inches, 6 might be a bit flimsy. You could build one out of arcrylic pretty cheap if there's a plastic place nearby you could grab a few off cuts.

I built a box out of eggcrate. Than I put some peices of liverock underneath it just for some added support and also just another spot for bugs to hang out.

I raised my skimmer with a "table" with pvc pipe for legs zip tied to an egg crate top. It is stable with minimal dead spots.

Speaking of egg crate, where do people in the Vancouver area get it? Home Depots near me only seem to carry the "chromed" egg crate.
