Default Shrimp Goby and Pistol Shrimp

I got this pair (for my Mom) at Safari Pets in Victoria.....I don't know that I am giving them to my Mom now...they're in my Q tank and have the neatest relationship!! Very cool to watch.......

Oh thats awesome! I'd love to put a pair in my nano, no doubt they'd make their burrow at the back of the tank or something

That has to be one of my favorite relationships. I have a yellow gobie/pistol shrimp in my work tank and a Randall's gobie/pistol in my 10g at home.

I'd like to have one in every tank....but they do make a bit of a mess with their tunnels...sure is interesting to watch the goby communicate with the shrimp!

A dog and a cat successfully mating?? Can't say that I've heard that one!

Sarah, with your experiance how small of space would a pair need?
I have a 10G with a soon to be breeding clowns, would that be too crowded do you think?

Dan

Hey Dan-my pair is in a 10g right now with a pair of GS Maroons....it is a bit crowded because of the Maroons...it is temporary for them, BUT I myself don't really think that a 10g would be too small for a goby and shrimp combo....they don't really move around much...they stick to their "cave".......just IMO...

Do you think a 2.5gal is too small?

maybe one of the smaller shrimp/goby combo's like the high fin banded and his shrimp or something but I don't know...this is where my expertise (there isn't alot to start) ends....hopefully someone else will chime in? I have a Randalls in my 2.5 but no shrimp as it is BB......and I water change often.

My pair is fairly large with the Bumblebee goby being about 2.5 inches and the shrimp just slightly smaller....would be too big for a 2.5 IMO.
