Default PH issues.

My Ph has been climbing steadily recenty, its at 8.24-8.26 during the day. I'm not freaked out yet but its gone up a whole point in the past week. I do add reef reactor for Calcium and Alk so if the ph gets much higher I won't be able to use it without lowering the ph first.

Why does this happen?

Out of curiousity I tested my RO/DI water last night. It read 8.3 is that normal? I thought RO/DI water was pure and should read close to 7.0

What test kits are you using? 8.2 is not that high. Whatcha panicking for? Are you testing the RO/DI fw with a sw test kit?

8.3 is what I shoot for. Drops to 8.1 the odd time. So I'd say it's all good.

I'm testing with a pin point ph monitor. Last night the ph was up to 8.34 and climbing, thats why I'm starting to get concerned.

Ph has begun to stablize naturally. i'm not sure what caused the spike, I speculate it had something to do with the increased bio load over the past week. Oops.

Doesn't an increase in bio load decrease pH?

Danny, my dwarf lion fish is eating frozen and flake once in a blue moon, he's a cool little fish. My LFS has some baby Black Voltans I'm considering, very cool fish.
