Default A few update pics

Haven't posted pics of my reef here in a while. SPS are starting to colour up nicely since I switched out my 400 watt radiums and replaced them with 250 watt 20K HQI Giesemanns.

IIRC, this is Andy's tank:

Looks great! Why did you decide to switch to the Giesmanns?

Thanks guys. I switched out the 400 watt radiums because I was overdriving them with son agro ballasts and didn't like the idea of switching them out every 6 months $$$$$. I also wanted to reduce hydro costs $$$$$. My chiller was running quite a bit since I was running the 400 watt bulbs inside a closed canopy. I really like the look of 4 250 watt HQI pendants as opposed to 3 400 watt mogul socket bulbs. The light spread is much better and to tell you the truth the look is very similar to that of the 400 watt radiums. I have noticed an overall improvement in sps colouration since I switched out the radiums 6 weeks ago. There are a few colonies, however, that have showed a slight decline in colouration. My chiller runs much less frequently now as well. Haven't been running them long enough to evaluate hydro costs. I will report back.
