FYI, I use a maxijet 1200 with a Vertex15 Reactor. Works perfectly for me.
I don't use any foam in the reactor, as they will just get gummed up with tank gunk and pellet mulm.

I agree with the others, put it where you will get the most enjoyment. If on a floor other than the basement, figure out where the floor joists are and get as many running under your tank as possible...
