Do you have any other fish in the tank? If so, they probably have ick as well, but are not showing symptoms yet, or are able to fend off the attack for now.

Also tried the fire trick. Took rock out and burned them with a propane torch. This never killed them all, would always come back. I think too...

My understanding is light grows green algae, or red. Brown is the stuff you see...
