For the more rare higher end fish I prefer to pick up the fish fresh from the shipper. For all others I prefer to put them on hold and pick them up a week after when they are eating.

My DC12000 is really quiet as well. Way more quiet then when I had a Mag 18, and even at level 6 there is very little noise. I agree, if the unit is within warranty period, I would get it looked at.
