I did that when I have no fish. I was fishless for about a year and my tank did nothing but thrive. I topped up the water daily and did water changes every 2 months, adding calcium every week or so....

what kind of corals do you prefer?
Personally, I like softies and Lps. the reasoning behind it is they are usually quite hardy, low maintenance and they "flow". I love to sit and watch the movement of my corals. I haven't got into sps...

I feel your pain OP. I have lost a few fish to this infection. Try that polyplab quasi-placebo first, it cured my clarkii but not my Raccoon butterfly. I really have no faith in "fish medicine"....
