Its also super easy to get silicone in one or two or three pieces of glass to stop micro bubbles. The glass needed would be really cheap to have cut.

Looks fine. Concept is great at sump design and have done lots and know all the ins and outs and can do simple sumps pretty cheap, check them out.

My two cents, the best overflow system is at the end of the tank with the return at the opposing end. This gives you end to end flow with no dead spots, minimum friction loss and water is well mixed...
