You should stay away from smaller salvage yards because they might not be able to get you the parts you need because they do not have too many vehicles to take apart. The best ones maintain proper inventory of parts so that you can get the exact ones without too much trouble. You shouldn t have to search through rusty parts for the exact one you want. Rust is another problem you will have to face if you buy second hard parts. Examine the parts you plan to purchase, preferably go there with your mechanic, so that you don t buy anything that is already damaged. You will have to do a few repairs to get rid of rust and dents and its best that this is done before the piece is attached to the car. This is the only way that repairs can be done properly. If possible, take the part that has to be replaced along with you to the salvage yard so that you can verify that the new part is an exact match.
