Looking for popular opinions here. What's your favourite colour?

Black
White (Is this just crazy?)
Deep sea navy blue
Shallow reef royal blue

if your undecided, use a plastic christmas paper that the colour is printed on foil(solid colour).if you don't like it you can always change the colour .the next tank i build i am thinking of air brushing the back to make it look like more depth.but all the tanks i've seen there is a lot of coralline growing on the back so your background disappears

I like royal blue.
But I have not seen that colour for a very long long time.
Lots of coraline on my back glass just as monocus said lol

I see where you are coming from. I am planning to have my rock work free-standing from the back glass as to be able to keep it coralline free (I hope).

Tuff call for me too between royal blue or black, I ended up going royal blue, looks really nice when the coraline fills in, but if I was to do it again I think I'd do it black, cause if you have acrylic overflow boxes they blend in better

I have a coast to coast overflow, so it's black acrylic. I keep it nice and clean with a plastic scraper and it looks real sharp. I've seen the two blues airbrushed and blended into each other. Beautiful effect!!!!

I voted for the fifth option (clear/unpainted). This way you can put a painted or printed sheet behind the tank and change it up anytime you like.

I put a black self-adhesive sticker on the back of mine. I find that black makes the colour of the corals and fish pop....

Well the votes are in and black seems to be the most popular. Thank you everyone for voting... except Kien, you can't make your own options man. That kind of Capt. Kirk cheating will eventually get you Andorrean Herpes!
Going to buy some paint today but it is still a tough call for me. Guess I will follow the pack off the cliff and go with black. Planning a frag tank down the road so I could change it up then.

There's no such thing as a no win scenario..

LOL!!! Your idea about leaving it clear and using different coloured panels is a good idea in theory... but sounds like way too much work!

After the one disastrous experience with painting the back of my tank, I would never do it again. Plain shiny black paper is now on the back of my 92 gal corner bowfront tank. It looks great. The corals are reflected off the sides of the tank and it looks bigger than it really is.

Put an led or plasma tv behind it and seal it to the back to avoid salt creep then you can put on various screen savers or random pics to have it changing constantly

That's a really good idea, I do have a couple flat screens kicking around. Maybe incorporate an old 17" LCD monitor into a custom Concepts nano? Now you've got me thinking about a second tank! Lol.

Still undecided what to do with the back of the first tank.

You could play 'Finding Nemo' over and over again.

In my opinion - black looks the best on an LPS tank. The royal blue looks best for fish only & maybe even SPS. Haven't seen white - therefor I cannot comment ... However, I think it might look funny

Because I have coast to coast overflow with black acrilic backing I went with black garbage bags as I like if needed pull the bag off or aside to get a back view at times.
If I had to do it again I would have painted royal and light blue mix over the outline of my rock work and stay with black from that line down the entire back giving it the deep cave look from the rock down and the wavy ocean look over the rock line.
that said my vote is black.
