Default Bubble Algae

I have 10lbs of live rock that I have been curing in a 10 gal. I have waited to add it to the main tank as I have found some small bubble algae growing on it. I have picked some of it off and sucked it out of the tank. Not sure how to treat this stuff and would like to prevent it from getting into the main. What is the best solution for this stuff, and will it spreed like wild fire if one bubble is popped?

Thanks

Marcus

I think there will be no wild fire. Pop it.

if you can take out the rock ant pop and rinse it off in fresh to get the oil off the rock .I did the same thing on my 280 gal and holy crap you should have se nthe mess that i have to deal with.

I had it all ove the rock everywhere. You can ask Doug on here, it was a freakin mess. When i switched to the 75 gal it came back after rinsing it off i used the same water from the tank .so if you want it all over the spores willl X again and again. It happened to my tank .that is what happened in my tank.

I got rid of mine by breaking them off when they got big.. quite a few did pop when I was trying to remove them and I didn't have any outbreak because of it.

I also had a couple emerald crabs in the tank and they took care of all the small ones.

I cant find the old thread bt it said they do not have spores so you can have a hay day poping them and no new ones should appear.

I just remembered that at the seattle meet Anthony Califo mentioned that they were a single cell algae and I recall him saying there was no spores either. I can't remember his exact words but it was something to that effect.

Agreed. Also remember, when the crabs eat them they don't get them off in one piece and swallow them whole. I'd imagine they pop them and eat the rest...
