Default Algae ID (Help)

Well all was fine on my reef, never had any alage problems what so ever until about a few weeks ago..

Now this algae pops out of no where and is mostly concentrated on this one rock with little bits and pieces making its way to other rocks. I'm thinking its dinos but not to sure.

Cant really pin point a cause as i'm using R/O DI water, got GFO and carbon running, lighting cycle is minmum and I rinse all frozen foods etc. Might have been old bulbs as there were over due but that problem has since been taken care of.

I'll get all the params up soon, checked nitrates and they were undetectable.

Any one got any suggestions for dinoflagellates if it is my problem?

Hey there MD14,
I had a small problem with dinos in the beginning. Same as you. I ended up doing much of what the article suggested and also did a couple blackout periods. No lights for 24 hours, blackout with black towel. Corals all survived no problem and fish were a little confused but were fine. I then started back up with a reduced light period over the next few weeks and it worked!

Good luck and don't sweat it too much - usually a small part of the "cycle" of a tank trying to mature.
