Default New Hood

Here are some pics of my new hood still in production. Tomorrow I will figure how to mount my 4' light box in this 5'x2' box and vent fresh air in and hot air straight out. Problem is to keep box mobile, so I can remove it when bulbs need to be changed. Plan is to keep all hot air away from tank water. Box is 1/2" Maple needs sanding counter sinking the screws, plugs and then the long part, stain and Varathane.

I agree, very nice work.

Q: in the second picture, there is some kind of notchy thing in the upper left hand corner? Is this a 1x2 shelf for the door 2x2 inner-corner-piece-thing to rest on?

Tony,
I have been using this hood now for over a year with only the 3/4" ply wood ends and 2x2 joining them. I then hung my box with the chains it came with over this. Since this already fit my tank perfectly I just added these sides and doors on.

Looks good Lee, update us with the finished product. I guess with Maple wood you wouldn't want to paint that black, eh? :P
