By the time his water level hits that height for the emergency overflow to kick in it will already be way to late.

Although I appreciate the aesthetics of a minimalist look, myself, I always put my fish first and I’m not sure they’d be happy with this kind of structure. Before adding a fish I always think, “where can he sleep?“ as I think it’s important for each to have a home. I feel happy seeing them all snug in their spots after lights out. Also l like to collect anything that catches my eye so I don’t have the discipline for something like this lol.

On the other hand, it looks cool and it will sure be easy to keep detritus from settling.

Love the scape! some of my favorites are scaped like that!

Wish i couldve done mine that way but with wanting lots of fish I need more territories to support them :P

Looking forward to seeing this tank grow up!

Yes, I am starting to think I will add a little more rock to help with fish territories.

Lots of progress lately. Rebuilt the mixing and water change system.

Added a substrate vacuum to the drain side (which I didn't have on the previous tank).
Drain automatically loses suction at the 25% water change volume mark.

Hands free draining right into the sink. All made from left over plumbing parts.

WYZE cameras from Amazon.

Stuck one in the stand.

...and one on the tank... oops, need a filter.

Got a temporary light from Rich, until shipping from the States returns to normal.
Also Amazon'd some vinyl wrap for the back of the tank, just need to apply.

Thanks for looking,

Wow your vacuum system puts mine to shame. I still fill a 2 gallon bucket & haul them to the laundry tub. I’m not confident enough to drain right into the sink in case I suck up something alive which is very unlikely but I’m paranoid (and very near-sighted).

Thanks for looking,
That's a one slick looking tank Warren! You're luck to have Rich as a friend. He also gives Free frags, just ask.

Moved the Marine Pure balls out of the sump and into the overflow. Then made a cover to keep the light out and algae to a minimum.
Of course it's already starting to warp, so thinking of a Lexan replacement. The 1" pipe is for future Radion cables.
