Default Nemtasia Party at Reef Wholesale

Things are getting a bit crazy here at Reef Wholesale this week!!!

Trina wasn't paying attention and I went crazy again, muhahahah!!!!

Warning, some of the following content is so sexy that it may be considered illicit

On my last trip over to SE asia i managed to find a few actual true purple LTA's. And I know they were NOT dyed as I was actually there. We did managed to ship back a few on that trip but we also had some quite legthy conversations about how much I would like to get some more of these LTA's. And apparently they listened and managed to not only find what I was looking for, but they also found a bunch of paterns and color combinations I could never have dreamed of!

Yes I did put this one in a 2' pipe piece

And this one

This one is my favorite and its HUGE!!

I must admit, this is not the first time I have gone a bit crazy with nems....

About 2 months ago I set off to Vietnam for a couple weeks and hand picked a huge and very nice selection of Maxi Mini carpet Anemone.

Once the anemone were back in Canada we let them settle down a bit in our coral beds, dosed iodine at slightly higher levels than usual, put on some silky smooth jazz, turned down the lights and things got a bit crazy :P

We had a major mini maxi anemone spawning for a full 2 day period in mid march!

These pictures were taken at night with only shop lighting and the flash from the camera so the nem colors do not look the best but you can see the eggs in the various baskets.

In the first few hours some of the eggs appeared a light bluw and some were a dark blue.

And by the time we reached the 24 hour mark all of the eggs had turned a dard blue color.

You can see in the picture below that at the 24 hour mark you could start to see some pretty interesting things starting to happen with the few of the eggs

Unfortunately though with our expansion of our warehouse in the GTA, we just do not have the additional time to dedicate to project for captive raising mini maxi anemone but we have spoken with several leading researchers across the US and when this happens again (which apparently it will if we continue to keep the perfect parameters for the mini carpets) then hopefully at that time we can properly undertake a captive breeding program for maxi mini carpets.

The spawing was truely amazing to whitness in person!!
It did however cause most of the mini carpets to color down drastically. I would assume due to the fact that they exerted so much energy in the spawing.
But another month has gone by and the colors are coming back to their former glory.

And while we are speaking about Nemtasia parties and spawning lets see some cool pics!!

This picture really does not do this mini maxi justice as its so much nicer in person.

And who can resist such a nice blue!!

And this piece is what we anticipate that most of these maxi mini will color up to over the next few weeks in our system

Well LTA do not climb on your rock work and mine stayed in the exact same place for years.
I would have an LTA in a sps dominated tank again. I must admit I wouldnt have a BTA for a SPS dominated tank. LPS or mixed tank, yeah sure.
