Hi all

My roomie Al just bought two flame scallops for his reef.
Does anyone know the specific care and requirments to keep these things alive :?:

Thanks , Rich

Flame scallops filter feed out of the water column. They require a LOT of food to keep alive. They tend to use up alot of energy reseerves moving to a spot in the tank they like when placed somewhere that the person owning them wants them. If they move. Leave them be. As it is they are short lived. I have yet to see one live longer than 6 months to a year in a tank.

I quote Robert Fenner on page 373 of The Conscientious Marine Aquarist he states "free roaming filter feeders that grow and even spawn in some aquariums and disappear or slowly starve in others. Established, nutrient-rich systems free of harassing fishes work best."
