If you have fish that will only eat from the water column then the addition of flake is important it is also ideal for when transitioning from frozen to non frozen as it give the fish something to chase.

Due to the manufacturing process (lightly steamed and rolled and not baked) the sheets are big and soft so when the required amount is put in the tank the flake does not break up and become near soluble, another visual clue of the quality.

Biggest advise when switching foods and specifically vitalis due to it being very strong in flavour, always stop feeding all other brand foods, fish are creatures of habit they don't understand what is good only what is standard, so they will continue to go for the lesser option only if given the chance. With no other option they learn fast vitalis is the new food source and start to get the improved health quality faster.

I would avoid slow transition, fish are creatures of habit not so much know what's best for them they will follow habit. By doing a hard switch they will follow quicker, you may get some spitting for up to a week, but fish are not going to starve themselves. Some fish have never tasted true raw moist fish meal before it's new to them. Always best to do a hard reset on fish this is what Ripleys public aquariumndid and Quebec Aquarium.

Ok thanks for the advice. I will be picking up variety of the Vitalis food (flame, grazing pellets and sps food). I'm hoping this brings better nutrition to my tank

Sounds great please feel free to post pictures or videos here. The moment you open a pot you will see and smell the difference, the pellet can even be molded it's so naturally moist.

Michael,

What is the phosphate content of this food?
Also, because of the high nutrient content, is it recommended to feed less?

Congratulations on your continued success.

Excellent question

You are correct you do feed less the Dubai Mall case study showed this with a reduction in food bill per month from $10,000/month to $4,000/month

The food has no effects on PO4 the product is not fortified with ash found in the many of other foods, it also contains a Ferrous sulphate monohydrate (a PO4 binder.)

Ferrous sulphate monohydrate is a mineral additive. As a blood tonic substance to livestock, it can stimulate the growth of animal's body. source of iron, promotes oxygen-rich blood, immune support.

When the likes of Dubai Mall are throwing in over 20Kg a day, a food with a PO4 source would be very detrimental.
