It's been a long time since I updated this thread.

I created doors finally before Christmas so here's what they look like. Bought the glass from a stained glass shop. They look cool.

The tank looks like crap right now since I had a couple disasters. Doing a major water change tomorrow so hopefully things start improving. Obviously need to keep up on doing weekly water changes, but the other problem is not enough flow, so will be adding another pump too.

Made some improvements to my rodi system. Put on a dual tds meter. One measures output from the ro filter, the other from the di. Also added two shutoff valves so when I turn the water on, I block off the di resin until the ro water reads 3 or less, usually takes about a minute. Then I open up the valve to the di resin and close the other testing line.

Thank you very much!

Well I am 4 hours into doing this water change. Made 35 gallons of saltwater.

Took out all the rocks and rinsed them in a bucket of saltwater. You should've seen how brown and disgusting the water was. Most likely because I had a major gfo accident that turned my tank brown and I finally got around to washing the rocks off.

I checked my Mg levels, and they were at 1000ppm. I raised it to 1100 but will add more tomorrow. I've read you shouldn't raise it more than 100 ppm per day. I want to get it to around 1350.

Will check alk and Ca when I get the mg stabilized.

I auto fragged my trumpet coral so once it recovers I'll be able to sell some pieces.

I know of one peppermint shrimp that for sure survived the big change today but haven't seen the other yet.

I also added a new pump so flow is awesome right now. Will probably need to adjust positioning later but for now looks like no dead spots. The corals are already starting to come out a bit more, so hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. I'm promising myself to start taking better care of the tank so I can some nicer stuff to look at!

Those are the coolest doors I have ever seen on a stand, nicely done bud!

Test you calcium and alk at the same time and see where it is, adjust accordingly and as for mag, I usually just bump mine from 1100 to 1350 without any issues but you can go slow if you like.

Mag alk and ca all at normal levels again. I'll be testing my saltwater mix when I do my next water change to make sure it starts off right as well.

Booooo, phosphates!!

I'm probably picking up some carbon from Eli today so might look into fozdown as well. Gfo in a bag ain't cutting it. I'll be doing some research into fozdown.

Busy day today!

Stopped at Eli's first and grabbed some new carbon and fozdown.
Went to concept but their fish stock was very low so didn't get anything. That store has some serious potential. I really hope they get it up and running soon.

Went to Wai's and got a yellow eye kole tang and a red flower coral. Both look awesome. And grabbed a bottle of coral snow. That stuff makes your tank soooooo cloudy. But it does disappear. And of course stopped at peters drive in.

Also got 10 more pounds of live rock.

Hope everything stays nice and stable, planning a water change in 5 days.

4 drops of fozdown and my PO4 went from .07 to .01 in 2 days.
Since the big water change my cynarina (I think that's what it's called) is starting to bubble up and expand. The torch is really starting to extend out.

My new fish is a really scaredy cat, hides as soon as you come near the tank. At least it's eating off the rocks and glass. Hopefully he starts eating when I actually add food to the tank.

The red flower coral looks a little limp but all the polyps are extended.

Going to change the carbon today to the new stuff from Eli.

Weird, so I'm getting ready for a water change and decided to test my new water. Here are the params
Salinity 1.025
Alk 10.4
Mag 1100
Ca 350

I couldn't believe how low the mag was, tested it twice. So raised it up a bit as well as the calcium.

I'm getting to the bottom of my h2ocean bucket so maybe that could affect things.

Let there be a refugium!!!!

Got some cheato from a fellow reefer, threw some rock in and got a 100w equivalent LED par 38 bulb (5000k) for some light.

I really want a mandarin goby so hoping for a healthy pod population. I went to Pisces and got their three pack of copepods rotifers and phyto. They say you're supposed to replenish it every 2-3 weeks. The bags they give you are about 2 cups big and you can see the little buggers swimming around.

Also picked up some clean up crew since I really don't have any. So to start I got 5 bumblebees, 5 astrea, 5 cerith and 1 emerald crab. I might get two more emeralds since they are really cool to watch.

Already making tracks
