Default black spots on clownfish?

We got a small clownfish for our 5 gallon tank just a few weeks ago, and added some zoas and a small bubble tip anemone and some mushrooms. Now our clownfish has developed black spots.

Is this a bad sign? What might cause this?

Mine have had the dots show up recently too, I think it's from either trying to host in my frogspawn, which I've not seen them try, or trying to host in some red mushrooms the they always try. Some days the dots seem like they're going away and some not. The fish seem fine though.

If they're black "blotches it's most likely the clowns playing in your zoas or bubble. If that's the case there's no need to worry.

+1 most likely zoa stings. Nobody ever said clowns were smart.

Hey I agree with the Zoo's. I have a ton of zoos in my little tank and my one clown would sleep in them on occasion, after he started that he developed black spots too. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.... besides mine had a black spot on his face that looked like a moustache. My brother calls him 'stalin-fish'....sigh.
