Default Canon Digital Rebel

Has anybody tried one of these yet? It's one of the first semi-affordable ($1500 cdn) SLR digitals.

I'm interested in how good the macro is, among other things.

Check out the reviews on http://www.dpreview.com. I almost got one, but opted for the Olympus C-5050 Zoom Instead which I've been extremely happy with. With a macro lens on the Digital Rebel It will take amazing macro shots.

I have played with it a little bit. I would basically take all the lenses other Canon EOS non-digital cameras would use. I have a 400mm and I snapped it on the Rebel Digital. Very sweet. It is all the modern SLR features but Digital.

Something that really bugs me about the digital camera world.
With Standard Point and shoot 135 cameras there was an evolution of quality and functioality. So why is it that with Digital point ans shoot the Camera manufactures have started back at ground zero.
